PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of preventing breakage of an emission end surface of a light guide fiber, achieving a small diameter of an insertion part, and securing the quantity of illumination light from the light guide fiber and the light distribution range so that light is enough diffused and condensed to achieve a desired light distribution characteristic.SOLUTION: A fiber holding cylinder is located in the enclosure of a cylindrical observation optical unit to hold a light guide fiber with the emission end surface exposed. A cover member is located at the tip of an insertion part, and includes a flange-like covering part for covering the emission end surface of the light guide fiber held by the fiber holding cylinder; and a cylindrical fitting part projected from the inner peripheral edge of the flange-like covering part in the longitudinal direction of the insertion part, so that the illumination light emitted from the emission end surface of the light guide fiber is distributed to a field of the cylindrical observation optical unit. A cylindrical fitting space is formed between the outer periphery of the tip part of the cylindrical observation optical unit and the inner periphery of the tip part of the fiber holding cylinder, and the cylindrical fitting part of the cover member is fitted to the cylindrical fitting space. |
