Device for the reduction of the electromagnetic energy reflected by any given structure, at the lowest radar frequencies, consisting of relatively thin panels, spaced regularly and symmetrically (Figure 1) on the structure to be protected, when consisting of a metal and regular body (Figure 2), or alternatively on a metal surface conformal to the one to be protected, if it is non metallic or discontinuous (Figure 3). These panels are made of electromagnetically inert material, suitably loaded with metal elements so that, in the presence of the underlying metal surface, it becomes moderately resonant while at the same time it results to be relatively thin although called to operate at the lower frequencies of interest. The peculiar position of the panels and their moderate resonating characteristics produce the high values of absorption required at low radar frequencies which would otherwise not be achievable. The invention belongs to the technical field of electromagnetism, and more specifically to that of electromagnetic compatibility and finds applications in the field of civil and military radars. |
