The package is made from a layer of thin material made with a series of pleats (3) which are fastened together at their ends. The package has at least one pleated section which is folded over at right angles to the direction of the pleats to form a bellows-type base with a side closure at one end at least to form a bag which can be totally or partially deployed by pulling on its corners.The package can have a non-pleated section (14) forming an extension to the pleated section, made with the same or different width (7) as the pleated section and made from the same sheet of material, allowing the pleated section to be extended and folded over to form a cover for a substance placed in the non-pleated section.
