COAGULATION-FLOCCULATION PROCESS

An improved coagulation-flocculation process is provided which leads to the formation of flocs of greater size and of higher mechanical strength without irreversible formation of microflocs comprising applying, at least in the initial stage of the process, an initial operative cycle to a suspension having aggregate-forming properties and containing a coagulant, said cycle comprising: (i) a fast agitation step at an average velocity gradient comprised between 300 and 1 000 s-1 for a duration comprised between 30 and 200 sec.; and (ii) a slow agitation step at an average velocity gradient comprised between 40 and 100 s-1, for a time comprised between 5 and 40 min.
