The engine enclosure (1) has a lower section (4) fixed to the boat hull (17), catching oil or fuel leaks. A removable shell (2,3) covers the lower section, completely enclosing the engine. The lower section has watertight passages for pipes (12), ducting (9,15) and cables (13). The removable shell may be two half shells supported (19) on the lower section integrated with the boat longitudinal members (11). The half shells may be locked together by a strap (14), when closed. Sound insulation may be fitted internally to the shells and externally to the lower section. ADVANTAGE - Avoids fuel vapours, hot air, reaching personnel so possibly reducing seasickness. Reduces fire and asphyxiation risk.
