<p>A joint between two hollow pipes (1, 2) is formed by inserting the pipes (1, 2) into the sleeve (100). The sleeve (100) is made of a similar or compatible material to that of the pipes (1, 2) which are to be joined. The pipes (1, 2) are held in position while the sleeve (100) is rotated. Due to the rotational and tangentional sheer stresses produced between the surfaces of the sleeve (100) and the pipes (1, 2) the multilayers for these surfaces form a uniform mixture. This mixing action eliminates the weld line present in known systems.</p> |
