An apparatus for controlling obstructive sleep apnea comprises: a mask (12) for placement over a breathing orifice of a patient having obstructive sleep apnea; a hose (14) connected at a first end to said mask and at a second end to means for applying air pressure (14) to said mask and breathing orifice as said patient inhales and exhales; means for tracking (20) the inhalation and exhalation of said patient; and means (24) associated with said air pressure application means for triggering a burst of air pressure to said mask and orifice at a predetermined point of said inhalation or exhalation.
