The circuit for automatically restricting luminance of a picture tube comprises a resistance(41) for flaring voltage based on applied beam current(I), a deducting part(42) for calculating a voltage difference for which the beam current(I) voltage-flared through the resistance(41), a comparing part(43) for comparing voltage outputted from the deducting part(42) and threshold voltage, and a control voltage outputting part(440) for outputting voltage controlled according to a signal outputted from the comparing part(43), thereby preventing a picture tube, a horizontal output transistor or a high pressure output transistor from being damaged, caused by an overflow of beam current.
