The restricting barrier consists of a pivoting lever (6), which is held, locked in a closed position, when access is prevented. The pivoting lever is a straight lever, which pivots around a central pivot axis (18), and which carries at its upper extremity a ferrule (7), which is designed to co-operate with a pawl (9), which, in turn, is arranged on the upper rail (1) of the barrier frame. The pawl is arranged in a slide way (8), in which passes the upper extremity of the lever. The pawl has an extension (11), on which rests the lower end of a finger (12), which passes through he upper rail of the barrier frame. The displacement amplitude of the finger is controlled by the angular position of a rotating rod (13). The weight of the pawl is greater than that of the extension, thus ensuring that the extension is always in contact with the end of the finger.
