Extrusion tool

An extrusion tool, in particular, a disk-like press die with at least one forming passage through it for extrusion of metal such as aluminium or an aluminium alloy is made of steel and is provided with surface coating. The coating of the extrusion tool (24, 28, 32) is made of materials chosen from a group containing carbides, nitrides, oxides and their combinations. This material is applied to the extrusion tool by means of a chemical vapour deposition process.
