The rotation axis for the drive shaft (3) for the rear wheel axle (2) and the casing for the hypoid gear (4) links the shaft to the axle, which both lie above with the fuel tank (21) located beneath the shaft. The rear axle is driven via a hypoidal gear by a drive shaft extending in the vehicle length direction, the gear casing being located in between the axle and shaft rotation axes. The fuel tank is located in the rear axle region.
