PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure natural daylighting and natural ventilation of a common passageway communicating with respective houses by arranging an open ceiling at the center of a mid-to-high-rise building and providing an opening at the side of the open ceiling. SOLUTION: An open ceiling 1 is continuously formed from the ground level to a roof floor at the center of a mid-to-high-rise building and a daylighting roof 5 is provided at the uppermost part. The lower space of the open ceiling 1 can be used for multistory parking facilities. A common passageway 3 such a corridor communicating with each house 2 is arranged around the open ceiling in respective floors and further, a vertically connecting opening 4 is formed at the side. The common passageway 3 is continuously connected like a connecting corridor in the opening 4. In this way, the open ceiling 1 always serves for daylighting and natural ventilation down to the lower floors through the opening 4 at the side, and it also improves habitability in the lower floors in particular. Further, the opening 4 may be provided in a corner and if it is provided in two directions, the daylighting and ventilation effect is doubled.
