PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for canceling a photography of a camcorder are provided to enable a user to cancel a previous photographed scene conveniently by searching an initial part of a previous photographed scene automatically. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer checks an output signal of a key input unit and confirms an input of a specific key to cancel a record. In case a specific key to cancel a record is inputted, the microcomputer checks whether time code data are saved in a recording initial location saving unit. In case time code data are saved, the microcomputer reads a finally written time code and controls a reproduction signal processing unit to reverse-reproduce data saved in a data saving unit. A reproduction signal processing unit reproduces audio/video data and separates a time code. The microcomputer compares a time code from the recording initial location saving unit with a time code separated from the reproduction signal processing unit. In case the time code from the recording initial location saving unit and the time code separated from the reproduction signal processing unit are coincident each other, the microcomputer stops an operation of a deck and removes a time code corresponding to a final recording initial location saved in a recording initial location saving unit.
