PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that easily copes with the radiation noise standards. SOLUTION: In the image processing unit that applies processing to image data read by an image read means reading an image of an original, a clock signal used for processing of the image data is generated, the clock signal is frequency-modulated and a timing signal for image processing is generated based on the frequency-modulated clock signal so as to considerably reduce a peak level of intensity of the clock signal driving the image read means (CCD sensor 105) in its frequency spectrum.
