PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the shoes or the like of a passenger from being caught between the skirt guard panel of an escalator and a step. SOLUTION: A plurality of small holes 21a and 22a opened penetrating upward to a step 3 are provided in skirt guard panels 21 and 22, ducts 41 are disposed in the backsides of the skirt guard panels 21 and 22 so as to be suspended from the small holes 21a and 22a, and a blower 5 is provided for blowing air into the ducts 41. Thus, since passengers near the skirt guard panels 21 and 22 feel air flowing from the small holes 21a and 22a touching feet and verify safety around the feet, accidents are prevented.
