摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL device having a spectral band width of emission wavelength greatly narrower that that of a usual organic EL light emitting element and superior wavelength selectivity and capable of emitting light with directivity being applicable to not only a display but also optical communication and easily guiding the output light into a core layer of an optical fiber portion with high efficiency. SOLUTION: An EL device 1000 has an EL element portion and an optical fiber portion 200. The optical fiber portion 200 consists of a core layer 90 and a clad layer 95. The EL element portion 100 consists of an emission layer 40, a pair of electrode layers 30, 50 and a light wave guide. The emission layer 40 emits light with an electroluminescence. The pair of electrode layers 30, 50 applies an electric field to the emission layer 40. The light wave guide includes a core layer ranging portion 92 ranging from the core layer 90 of the optical fiber portion 200 for propagating light generated in the emission layer 40 toward the core layer 90 of the optical fiber portion 200. The light wave guide is formed with a diffraction grating 22.
