PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid crystal display device which can be driven by a low voltage and has high contrast, excellent brightness and low hysteresis. SOLUTION: Two liquid crystal supporting plates, each constructed by sticking a pair of upper and lower substrates 2, 3 on which are formed transparent electrode layers 10, 11 composed of indium tin oxide respectively, via a spacer and concurrently sealing resin 20 with a specified gap, are stuck together via a mediating material having the same refractive index as the substrates 2, 3. A polymer dispersed liquid crystal which consists of a liquid crystal 15 held and dispersed in a polymer matrix 16 is enclosed in the gap between the respective liquid crystal supporting plates.
