PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a particle size distribution analyzing method, capable of calculating highly accurate particle size distribution from the data obtained, depending on the measuring condition or a particle size by adding a condition at a time of measurement and dispensing with complicated operational processings. SOLUTION: Hypothetical particle size distribution F(j) is preset, and the frequency characteristics of a detection signal D(t) are calculated to be set as actually measured frequency characteristics S(f) and the frequency characteristics of Lorentz distribution having a half-width calculated according to Stokes-Einstein's expression are calculated from the measuring condition corresponding to the magnitude of a particle size. A response function P (i, j), showing the intensity of light to the particle size calculated on the basis of operation frequency characteristics S1-S8, is set as a wt. to calculate frequency characteristics Sc (f) for every frequency and the assumed particle size distribution F(j) is corrected, corresponding to the difference ratio of this calculated value with the actually measured frequency characteristics S(f), and when the difference ratio of the frequency characteristics Sc(f) based on an assumed value with the actually measured frequency characteristics S(f) becomes a predetermined range, the assumed particle size distribution F(j) is set to real particle size distribution F0(j).
