PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To comparatively easily obtain an outer peripheral surface of a barrel part maintaining an antibacterial action for an extremely long period by mixing inorganic based antibacterial agent in rubber or resin. SOLUTION: A guide roller for carrying sheet 1 is constituted of a barrel part 2 and support shafts 3 at both the ends. The barrel part 2 has a coated external layer 5 on an outer periphery of a cylindrical core member 4. The external layer 5 is made of rubber into which inorganic based antibacterial agent is mixed and an outer peripheral surface 6 of the barrel part 2 is formed by grinding the outer periphery of the external layer 5 into a cylindrical shape. Rubber in the external layer 5 is selected among nitrile rubber and neoprene rubber. Antibacterial agent in the external layer 5 is silver zeolite based antibacterial agent whose average particle diameter is about 0.6 to 2 micron and is added at the rate of about 1 to 5% of the weight in rubber. Silver zeolite based antibacterial agent and raw material rubber are preliminarily mixed and antibacterial agent is substantially uniformly dispersed in the external layer 5.
