PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method, with which the heat-drying of a lining material in a vacuum degassing vessel is efficiently executed. SOLUTION: In heat-drying of the lining material 3 of monolithic refractory for the vacuum degassing vessel provided with two circulating flow tube holes at the bottom part thereof, a heat resistant porous layer 5 having higher permeability than that of the lining material 3 is arranged between an outer iron shell 4 and the lining material 3. Further, a deep hole is bored in the outer iron shell 4 and a cock 7 communicating with this deep hole is arranged at the outside of the outer iron shell 4, and the cock 7 is kept open during heat-drying of the monolithic refractory lining.
