The invention relates to a shoe, especially a shoe for small children with an outsole (1) and an upper part (22) attached thereto. Said outsole (1) is provided with a contraction (5) in the area between the forefoot (2) and the heel (3). Such a shoe does not promote in itself the natural heel-to-toe movement of the foot to a sufficient extent during the process of motion of the foot and during the first few steps of the child. The aim of the invention is to maintain the natural flexibility of the child's foot while at the same time giving sufficient protection to the child's foot during walking. To this end, the outsole (1) is provided with a connecting part (4) in the area of the contraction (5) which connecting part has such a flexibility that the torsion of the forefoot vis-à-vis the heel is impeded as little as possible. In the area (10) of the forefoot (2) of the outsole (1) the shoe is highly flexible with regard to the process of motion of the foot due to a corresponding profile (9).
