PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a light source capable of providing the polarized luminescence by forming a first polysilane film on a transparent anode plate by using solvent insoluble polysilane, forming a second polysilane film on the first polysilane film by using a solvent soluble polysilane, and mounting a cathode plate on the second polysilane film. SOLUTION: A polarized luminescence EL element comprises a first polysilane orientation film 2 oriented by a mechanical deposition method and formed on a transparent anode plate 1, a second polysilane orientation film 3 orientated by an epitaxial growing and formed on the first polysilane orientation film 2, and further a cathode plate 4 formed on the second polysilane orientation film 3. By mounting a hole blocking layer 5 between the second polysilane orientation film 3 and the cathode plate 4, the flowing of positive charge to the cathode can be prevented, and the characteristic of the EL element can be further stabilized. By combining two kinds of polysilane orientation films, an uniform orientation film is formed in the element, and the minimized EL element of high efficiency can be provided.
