PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microwave power sensor with true mean value and wide dynamic range. SOLUTION: The power level of a high-frequency signal received at a high-frequency signal input 18 is detected by sensor diode means D1 to D4 that operate in a square-low region. To expand the dynamic range of the square-law region, a stack of sensor diodes is included. A switching type attenuator means 12 is provided so that the high-frequency signal passes through a low-loss path 14 in a low power range and passes through a 2nd attenuation path 16 in a high power range. The path is selected according to whether or not the power level of the received high-frequency signal exceeds the region of low power level and the sensor diode means operate always in the square-law region to measure the electric power of the received high-frequency signal with a wide dynamic range.
