PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to use an operation floor effectively and to save the labor by supporting a top cover removed from a body with a holding means that sets the top cover temporarily and locating it closer to the inner circumference side from the top cover mount is put and just under the part where an O ring for it is fitted. SOLUTION: The O ring for replacement is carried in an operation floor before the inspection of a reactor pressure vessel, a reinforcing material for movement and a surface protective material are removed to check O ring, the surface protective material is refitted to the O ring, it is temporarily set in a temporary setting tray 15 and a cover is mounted. Then, inspection work begins and a top cover is hoisted by an overhead travelling crane and is temporarily set on a holding pedestal 14. Immediately before the work for closing the top cover is carried out after the completion of the inspection, the O ring is removed from the sheet face of the top cover flange 1a and an O ring placement groove is maintained. Subsequently, a lid of the tray 15 for temporarily setting the O ring is detected to take out a new O ring, the protective material is taken off to be checked again and the O ring is placed into the O ring fitting groove. Since the O ring is located just under the sheet face at the time, it is made unnecessary to hoist the top cover.
