PURPOSE: A personal identification system using credit cards for automated devices such as issuing devices for various certificates is provided, which specifies a user from the credit card and identifies the user to give requested service. CONSTITUTION: The personal identification system comprises a data input mean, a credit card reading mean, a certification request mean, a data receiving mean receiving a personal identifying number for the user from the server, a service request mean, and a printing mean. The identification method is characterized by the following steps : (i) reading a credit card and transmitting the input data by the user and the read data of the credit card to a credit card server ; (ii) deciding acceptance or rejection of the user by receiving the data ; (iii) transmitting a personal identifying number to a terminal of the desired service when the user is accepted ; and then (iv) transmitting the identifying number and the contents of the desired service to a service providing server. |
