PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition, excellent in a low heat-buildup property, wet skid resistance, strength characteristics and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION: This rubber composition is obtained by admixing, with a natural rubber or a synthetic isoprene rubber, a tapered aromatic vinyl monomer/ conjugated diene monomer copolymer rubber or a coupled rubber obtained by linking an end of a plurality of the polymer molecules, wherein the copolymer rubber gives a ratio of (a wt. fraction of an aromatic vinyl monomer unit in a polymer molecule having a mol.wt. of 60% of Mp) to (a wt. fraction of an aromatic vinyl monomer unit in a polymer molecule having a mol.wt. of Mp) of 0.65-0.9, where Mp is a mol.wt. corresponding to a top of a peak in a mol.wt. distribution curve by the gel permeation chromatography.
