PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for measuring the sliding friction coefficient of a road surface that can compactly, simply, and economically measure the sliding friction coefficient on the traveling road surface, especially a road where snow has fallen, of an automobile, and at the same time can be easily kept when the device is not used. SOLUTION: A box-shaped outer frame 1 where a lower surface is open is provided, a measuring wheel 5 is provided in the outer frame 1, the measuring wheel 5 is rotatably supported by a main rod 2 whose one end being engaged to a front member 1a of the outer frame for extending backward, the other end of the main rod 2 is supported by the lower end of two supporting rods 3 whose upper end is supported by the upper member 1b of the outer frame for providing in a V shape, a strain meter for measuring the tension is provided in the main rod 2, and an air cylinder 7 and a load cell 8 are included into the supported rod 3.
