PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a body from being lowered or prevent a hoist cylinder from being set to an overload state when an engine is started in a body vertical locking device for vertically locking a body by the operation of an electric lever. SOLUTION: This device for vertically locking a body is provided with a hoist valve 13 feeding the discharged pressure oil of a hydraulic pump 11 driven by an engine 10 to the hoist cylinder 9, a solenoid proportional pressure control valve 30 feeding the discharged pressure oil of an auxiliary hydraulic pump 12 driven by the engine 10 to the first and second pressure reception sections 23, 24 of the hoist cylinder 13, a solenoid selector valve 40, and a controller 48 excitation-controlling the solenoid proportional pressure control valve 30 and the solenoid selector valve 40 based on the output electric signal of an electric lever 50. The controller 48 outputs a signal to set the hoist valve 13 to a float position when a seat signal and an engine start signal are inputted and outputs a signal to set the hoist valve 13 to a hold position when only the engine start signal is inputted.
