PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor capable of overcoming defects of a conventional well-known sensor such as requirement of a high voltage, for confirming smoke density in flowing gas, in relation to the sensor for determining the smoke density, its using method and a method for confirming the smoke density in the gas including flowing smoke and soot particles, to put it concretely, the sensor in which an exhaust gas flow including the smoke and soot particles flows in one or more molded members having porosity in the flow direction and the temperature of the molded members is measured by one or more temperature probes, its using method and the method. SOLUTION: This sensor is constituted as a smoke and soot sensor comprising one or more molded members having porosity at least in the flow direction, one or more electric heating members and one or more electrical temperature probes.
