METHOD FOR PRODUCING PURIFIED 1,3-BUTYLENE GLYCOL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially and effectively producing 1,3- butylene glycol having no odor problem after production and even after tree month's storage. SOLUTION: This method is characterized by use of Raney nickel having >=2,000 ml/g-Ni/h activity for hydrogenation of acetone and/or $500 ml/g-Ni/h activity for hydrogenation of phenol to obtain a hydrogenated crude solution containing 1,3-butylene glycol by hydrogenating acetaldol obtained by condensation of acetaldhyde.
