PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image printer in which a required memory capacity can be limited at the time of developing image data. SOLUTION: In an image printer where printing is executed by outputting image data generated at a host computer 1 to a printer engine 3 through a printer controller 2, the printer controller 2 comprises a CPU 12 for sectioning the image data generated at the host computer 1 into bands in the sub-scanning direction to develop a plurality of colors, and making a decision whether an inversion identical band, i.e., a band where the image data becomes identical by inversion, is present or not for each developed color band, an RAM 14 for not storing the inversion identical band but storing only the image data of one band when a decision is made by the CPU 12 that an inversion identical band is present, and an engine I/F 18 outputting the data of band stored in the RAM 14 while inverting when the image data of inversion identical band is outputted to the printer engine 3.
