COLD CATHODE DISCHARGE TUBE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode discharge tube capable of reducing a tube diameter so as to enable its satisfactory use in a liquid crystal display device to prevent light emitting loss and preventing the occurrence of uneven luminance. SOLUTION: A pair of discharge electrode sealing tubes 3 sealing discharge electrodes 2, respectively, are formed and connected with both ends of an arc tube 4 forming a phosphor layer on an inner face or an outer peripheral face while they are bent at a right angle so as to communicate them. Ultraviolet rays caused by discharge between the discharge electrodes 2 excite the phosphor layer of the arc tube to emit light.
