PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable print quality and reduction in damage to a magnetic recording head by effectively removing a film of contaminant sticking to the surface of a magnetic recording drum. SOLUTION: In a magnetic printer which develops a magnetic latent image, formed on the magnetic recording drum (1), with a toner developing device (21) and transfers a toner image to a recording medium (7) with a transfer roller (22), an abrasive cleaning means (30) is provided for removing residual matter by abrading the surface of the magnetic recording drum after transfer.
