PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building unit from which a temporary column can be easily removed and also a work method for a building using this kind of building unit. SOLUTION: In a building unit equipped with a plurality of columns 8, a plurality of upper beams 3 and 4 for connecting together the upper end portions of the columns 8, and a plurality of lower beams 6 and 7 for connecting together the bottom beams 6 and 7 and at least one column 8 is a temporary column 10 which can be removed from the upper beams 3 and 4 and the lower beams 6 and 7; the temporary column 10 is separated to jig columns 11 and 12 in the length direction, the jig columns 11 and 12 are connected by a jointing member 20 with a clearance 13 of a predetermined size, and the jointing member 20 can be attached to or detached from the jig columns 11 and 12 as its feature in this building unit 1.
