INTERMEDIATE COATING MATERIAL, METHOD FOR FORMING COATING FILM AND COATED ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate coating material that can furnish an excellent appearance to a finished product in the process of coating automobile bodies or the like, when used for a three coat-one bake method wherein the intermediate coating material is applied and then a base coating material and a clear coating material are applied by means of a wet-on-wet process, followed by simultaneous baking of the three layers of coating materials for curing. SOLUTION: This intermediate coating material has a viscosity at 60 deg.C or Vis (60 deg.C) of 10-1,000 poise, a viscosity at 90 deg.C or Vis (90 deg.C) of 1-500 poise, a viscosity at 120 deg.C or Vis (120 deg.C) of 100-10,000 poise, a Vis (60 deg.C)/Vis (90 deg.C) of 1.5-10, and a Vis (120 deg.C)/Vis (90 deg.C) of 2-30, under the condition that the content of nonvolatile components is 90 wt.%.
