PURPOSE: A color liquid crystal display and a method of fabricating the liquid crystal display are provided to maintain cell gaps in a display area and a peripheral area uniform, thereby produce a liquid crystal display with high picture quality. CONSTITUTION: A color liquid crystal display is constructed in a manner that the first substrate(111) on which a color filter is formed and the second substrate(141) opposite to the first substrate are attached to each other with a sealant(145). The first substrate includes the first area that is a display region, the second area that is a non-display region, a black matrix(150) and a sub color filter formed on the first region, and a dummy color filter formed on the second area and extended to the bottom of the sealant. The first area further has a thin film transistor constructed of an active channel layer, a gate electrode, a source electrode, and a drain electrode, a gate line connected to the gate electrode, a data line connected to the source electrode, and a pixel electrode formed on a pixel region.
