PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ash melting furnace capable of preventing molten slag from being solidified when the molten slag is extracted from a slag extraction outlet. SOLUTION: As ash melting furnace is provided, in which is includes a melting chamber 12 for heating and melting ash and a secondary combustion chamber 14, and a bottom wall 11a of a communication section 13 between the melting chamber 12 and the secondary combustion chamber 14 is inclined downward from the side of the melting chamber to the side of the secondary combustion chamber, and further a molten slag extraction outlet 21 is formed in the inclined bottom wall, and furthermore on the side of an upstream of the slag extraction outlet a dam 22 is constructed for guiding the molten slag flowing down from the upstream to opposite sides thereof and for dropping the molten slag from the downstream side into the molten slag outlet. In the ash melting furnace, a combustion burner 24 is provided on the side wall of a guide cylinder 23 for discharging the molten slag S suspended from the lower surface of the outlet 21 such that a combustion flame F is directed to a downstream side edge of the slag extraction outlet, and further a predetermined height heat insulation plate 31 is provided on the lower surface of at least the upstream side peripheral edge of the slag extraction outlet.
