PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce or scatter the load of sound analysis of a data stream. SOLUTION: This data stream reproducing device is provided with an analyzing means (50) and an extracting means (70). The analyzing means receives picture data in the data stream from supply sources (20, 15 and 30) of image and sound data streams, compares the picture data with a reference image (60), decides whether the picture data matches the reference image, receives sound data in a data stream related to the matching picture from the supply sources, converts the sound data into character data by sound recognition and stores a position in the data stream of the matching picture and the converted character data related to the matching picture in a storing means (30). The extracting means extracts data corresponding to the position of the matching picture from the data stream.
