PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pictorial communication device and a control method therefor wherein, if in receiving color information, a document on the transmitter side is in B4-size or A3-size and the receiver is capable of receiving B4- or A3-width color information, the document information can be transmitted in color in the original size. SOLUTION: In the pictorial communication device capable of communicating color information, information indicating the presence/absence of provided full- color receiving function, information indicating the presence/absence of provided JPEG receiving function, and information indicating the presence/absence of provided color receiving function for specific sizes, are communicated from the receiver to the transmitter.
