PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a sealed nickel-hydrogen storage battery having excellent high rate electric discharge characteristics and excellent electric discharge capacity efficiently by activating the battery without repeating charging and discharging. SOLUTION: Temperature rise and fall cycle operation in a range of temperature of -20 to 80 deg.C is applied to the sealed nickel-hydrogen storage battery provided with a hydrogen absorbing alloy electrode absorbing hydrogen. Moreover, the temperature rise and fall cycle operation is combined with charging at 10 deg.C or less.
