PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give the much more pleasure of photographing to a user by adding a character imprinting function for displaying or imprinting a character such as a letter or a picture unrelated to photographing. SOLUTION: When a camera control part 21 recognizes the loading of a film 10, it initializes the imprinted character and sets the camera in an imaging feasible state so as to perform photographing. After completing photographing, the control part 21 controls a release counting part 43 to count up the number of release times, and controls a change part 42 to change the imprinted character 306 so as to prepare for next photographing. Thus, the user not only enjoys himself (herself) at the taken photographs but also watches the growing character, because the character is changed and imprinted in order corresponding to a growth process at any time in accordance with the number of shutter times by using the character such as the picture of a chicken (an egg, a chick, a young chicken and an adult chicken) as the character in the growth process.
