PURPOSE: A shadow mask for a color picture tube and a fabricating method thereof are provided to improve color purity of a screen by restraining a doming phenomenon due to thermal deflection. CONSTITUTION: A shadow mask(10) includes a plurality of apertures(11), an edge portion(13), and an effective portion. The apertures(11) are formed on a shadow mask in order to pass electron beams. The edge portion(13) is formed between the apertures(11). The effective portion has a rectangular shape. A bead and a skirt portion are formed on an outer circumference of the effective portion. A ceramic layer(15) is formed on one side of the edge portion(13). The ceramic layer(15) has a low thermal expansion rate. The ceramic layer(15) is formed with B2O3.
