PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the area by reducing the circuit scale while realizing an appropriate boost operation. SOLUTION: A first boost circuit 10 is fed with two complementary clocks CLK1 and CLK2 and a level shift circuit 20 is similarly fed with two complementary clocks CLK3 and CLK4. The first boost circuit 10 boosts the power supply voltage by transferring the charges of capacitors provided in a plurality of boost stages to subsequent capacitors. The level shift circuit 20 shifts the control level of CLK3 and CLK4 to the output level of the first boost circuit 10. A second boost circuit 30 is driven by the output from the level shift circuit 20 to transfer the charges of capacitors provided in a plurality of boost stages to subsequent capacitors thus boosting the output from the level shift circuit 20 up to a desired voltage level. The frequency of CLK1 and CLK2 is set higher than the frequency of CLK3 and CLK4.
