PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To support work for simultaneously updating the firmware of a driver and a disk controller in a disk array system. SOLUTION: An update client 4 arranged in the disk array system transmits an update judgment request to an update server 9 by attaching identification information on the version of the driver 5 and firmware 7. The update server 9 judges the propriety of the update of the driver 5 and firmware 7 by referring to a data base 18 storing a judgment list for deciding the propriety of update and information on update data to be used from identification information of the driver and firmware. When update is necessary, applied update data is sent to the update client 4. The update client 4 updates the driver 5 and firmware 7 based on it.
