PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an open holding device of an opening and shutting body capable of holding and releasing an open state of a door with a simple operation. SOLUTION: An L-type metal fixture fixed to the door is brought into contact with a hook section 12B to move it upward, and the hook section 12B is engaged with an engaged section of the L-type metal fixture. While, the door is slightly pushed against the hook section, a reverse rod 15 is pushed by the L-type metal fixture to make it back, a swelling section 17 provided to an engaging member 12 is moved upward to oscillate the engaging member 12 with an oscillation shaft 13 with the center. In this case, damping force of a rotary damper 20 is applied to the oscillation shaft through pinions 19 and 18, and the rotation is delayed. By the constitution, the falling of the engaging member 12 is delayed, and the repeated engagement of the hook section 12B can be prevented.
