PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a digital voice recorder which copes with different field frequencies, based on a basic unit, when the digital voice recorder which serves as the basic unit corresponding to a certain field frequency exists. SOLUTION: The digital voice recorder comprises an input unit 1' having an natural field frequency, receiving audio data based on an specific format and executing a base-band processing, a processing unit 4', including an encoding means having a basic field frequency and designed to process the audio data based on a basic format, for operating by a clock, in response to a predetermined sampling frequency, and to sequentially process for encoding for an error correction of the audio data suitable for the basic format. The unit 4' contains a conversion means which converts the intrinsic format, conforms to the basic format and delivers the audio data to the encoding means. The encoding means processes, to encode for the error correction of the audio data, while arbitrarily inserting pauses at a proportion corresponding to the radio of the intrinsic field frequency to the natural field frequency.
