PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal that prevents an operator from being puzzled even when a button to select a function not provided to the terminal is depressed. SOLUTION: When an option function key such as an Internet option key is operated (ST1), whether or not an Internet option card is mounted on the terminal is discriminated (ST2), when the card is not mounted, that is, when the terminal is not connected to the Internet and advertisement display is set, an advertisement image is read from a memory and printed out (ST6) or advertisement (character) information relating to the Internet option is displayed for a prescribed time. When no advertisement display is set, 'No option is connected' is displayed (ST8).
