PURPOSE: Provided is a heat insulating sleeve, protection tube of probe measuring characteristics of a melt, which has excellent resistance against high temperature, corrosion and pollution, and low production cost by using slag wool and bulk ceramic materials. CONSTITUTION: The heat insulating sleeve(1) is produced by the following steps of: mixing 45-75wt.% of slag wool including slag more than 90wt.%, 20-50wt.% of bulk ceramic materials, and 2-10wt.% of organic or inorganic binder such as colloidal silica, alumina sol, polyvinyl alcohol, methyl cellulose, etc.; extruding into a hollowed cylinder shape; drying in a hot blast dryer; and cutting.
