PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring tape for accurately measuring various kinds of dimensions, such as the internal dimensions of a room. SOLUTION: In the measuring tape, which has a tape 13 with a scale and accommodated in a case 11, is wound off from an opening 11a provided at the front end of the case for free rewinding, an area near the tip of the tape having a scale is set narrowing gradually toward the tip nearly in a square shape; while a projection 12d, projecting from the rear of the case 12 toward the rear, is provided, which narrows gradually toward the rear nearly in a square shape. In addition, the scale of the tape 13 with a scale indicates the distance between the tip of the tape having a scale and the rear end of the projection 14d.
