PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC generator for a vehicle, in which sufficient airtight properties around a slip ring and sufficient amount of cooling air can be ensured, and miniaturization of a brush device is enabled. SOLUTION: The brush device of the AC generator for a vehicle is provided with a brush which comes into slidable contact with the slip ring, a spring for pressing the brush, a brush holder in which an accommodating part for accommodating the brush is formed, and a slip ring cover 70 for covering outer periphery of the slip ring formed on a rotating shaft of a rotor. The spring cover 70 comprises a first wall part 75 and a second wall part 76, which are almost of circular arc type, a lid part 72 closing an end portion in the axial direction, and sidewall parts 77. The first wall part 75 and the second wall part 76 overlap with each other, and a suction/exhaust port 79 is formed between the wall parts 75 and 76.
